"American Idol" was off slightly from its ratings a week ago on Wednesday, but per usual, it was the night's top-rated show by a wide margin. The show's adults 18-49 rating was more than double that of its closest competitor.
A couple of the night's other big shows, "Modern Family" and "Criminal Minds," were in repeats, which resulted in a bit of a boost for NBC's "Law & Order: SVU," which was up for the second straight week. So was its lead-out, "Chicago PD." ABC's "Nashville" also ticked up, and The CW saw improvements from "Arrow" and "The Tomorrow People."
FOX delivered 12.4 million viewers and a 7.3 rating/11 share in households in primetime, finishing well ahead of second-place CBS (7.5 million, 4.8/8). NBC (6.5 million, 4.3/7) came in third. ABC took fourth with 5.2 million viewers and a 3.4/5. The CW (2.2 million, 1.4/2) trailed.
FOX dominated the 18-49 demographic with a 3.8 rating. NBC finished second with a 1.6, edging ABC, 1.5, and CBS, 1.4. The CW drew a 0.8.
