USA Network Co-President Jeff Wachtel told TV Guide, "It's a show that we really like even though the second season was a little bit more, maybe, internal in its storytelling than we would have liked, but they're really embracing blowing it out in the third season, similar to what Covert Affairs did this year where one of the main characters all of a sudden exploded and it was this incredible theme of Annie and the bad girl, the teenager and the evil stepmom — we're really going to swing for the fences with that type of storytelling on Necessary."
