Skyfall 007
Movie Review: Skyfall
What an awesome movie!
Exciting.
Exciting.
Fun.
Poetics.
Surreal.
Haunting.
Hermosa.
This film looks and feels like an action movie the other. It's a great drama.
By far one of the very best films of 2012! And I loved the last ten minutes. '
The latest James Bond adventure, "Quantum of Solace" was rather ... wrong. I really liked the beginning of Daniel Craig as 007, "Casino Royale", the film that reboots the series and restarted from scratch. Now Daniel Craig is not at all seem to "my" James Bond - everything looks - but as an action hero, Craig is excellent. And so I was disappointed with the result. Well, I have not seen since October 2008, but all I remember about him is that I did not understand anything about the plot and the action was constant deafening.
As a child in the back of London in 1977, I was amazed by the giant posters of "The Spy Who Loved Me" (which I have not been able to see that a few years later, the documentary about the making of this film , which aired on television made me draw comics about James Bond - depending on what the making of the film and "Moonraker" real, one of the worst entries in the series, became the time of the James Bond first saw -.'m shocked and thought it was absolutely brilliant!
British director Sam Mendes is excellent in his profession - but it is not known for making action movies. The closest I came was probably the gangster drama "Road to Perdition" and perhaps "Jarhead", but the guy is better known for dramas such as "American Beauty" and "Revolutionary Road" and his last film was the low-comedy budget "Away We Go". When choosing a course director Bond feels a little strange. Original. Tonto?
It turns out that Sam Mendes was an excellent choice. More than perfect. He approached his task in a very unique way. "Skyfall" like nothing else.
When the film begins - unfortunately without the label of classic canon (which, for some reason, the film closes) - Bond and his colleague Eva inexperienced (the lovely Naomie Harris) are in Turkey, where hunting a murderer salary named Patrice (Swedish actor Ola Rapace, Noomi ex husband). During a fight on the roof of a high speed train, Patrice Eva tries to pull, but Bond is on the way. The coolness of M (Judi Dench) orders Eve to take the picture anyway. Eve shoots and hits Fallas obligations in a river, while Patrice away.
Bond is presumed dead, M wrote his obituary - and is in deep Troble. Former MI6 afent Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem) is out of M attack and MI6 HQ in London. Fortunately, Bond is not dead, however, had a great time on an idyllic island, where he was hanging out with women and alcohol (often Heineken, thanka sponsor agreement). Look at the attack on television and went home. After a few months as a corpse, it seems like a hobo.
Q Streets of a little boy (Ben Whishaw) and the bond team is a weapon and a squeeze funny, self-referential lines, Bond has an encounter with the same composure Gareth M and Mallory (Ralph Fiennes), then find Shanhai Silva and Patrice. On his way Bond also meets the mysterious lady required, but this time it Sévérine streets (Berenice Marlohe).
"Skyfall" is unlike any Bond film before. It is difficult to compare with the previous films. As 007 Daniel Craig is so different from previous incarnations, when it comes to the look and style, and as Mendes approach is so different, it is most unlikely that this is actually a James Bond movie - the worked could stand on its own feet with characters with other names. But it takes place in the world of Ian Fleming and Bond classics heard on the soundtrack. Ok, this is a James Bond movie.
Scenario Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan is very smart and does something about the history and cgharacters. James Bond is a character a bit lost in a special world, where there are no natural enemies, not black and white, East and West - this time the threat comes from within. But this movie is not all style and manner of storytelling makes everyone feel like a kind of fairy tale world. The cinematography is stunningly beautiful, the compositions and the colors are beautiful.
The rhythm is simple, which is interesting, but it never gets boring and draggy. It becames all very unreal. Just watch the scenes of Shanghai, which look like something "Blade Runner" - and a scene with Bond and Sévérine skyscraper apartments in two separate and opposite, shooting windows apart is to cut the breath. Final battle of the film between heroes and villains is performed in Skyfall the title, which is the childhood home of James Bond, a dark area in Scotland and scenes that make me think moors both Hammer Films and Sam Peckinpah original " Straw Dogs ".
During dialogue scenes, it's clear that Sam Mendes is primarily a playwright. These scenes have a depth, weight and tone which is not common in action movies, and can be a bit of theater - but for once, is a good thing. It's very dramatic, almost pompous.
This does not stop many action scenes in circulation. They are tough, intense and brutal - the harder end of the series of James Bond. Ola Rapace is surprisingly good as a villain. Albert Finney at the end as a great bearded man wearing a gun.
"Skyfall" is a fantastic film. It gave me goosebumps. Especially the last ten minutes, during which child are tied together, but also opens a new beginning. It is a very long film, two hours and twenty minutes, but I have not really noticed. What is fascinating, hypnotic and entertaining from beginning to end. I understand that people are already talking Oscars. "Skyfall" value Oscars!
"Skyfall" is one of the best films of the year.
Hopefully this will not be another four years before the next entry - this should also mean that Daniel Craig is a bit too old for the role.
However, it would be fun to let James Bond faces a classic super villain who wants to rule the world crazy and has a secret under siege, next time?
("Skyfall" was released in Europe October 26, 2012, opens in the U.S. on November 9)
