Fast-talking New Yorker and new doctor Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) has it all - after finishing first in his class from medical school, she'll follow his father's footsteps and become a cardio-thoracic surgeon. But when her dreams fall apart, Zoe decides to accept an offer from a stranger, Dr. Harley Wilkes, to work with him in his small office Bluebell, Alabama. Zoe arrives in this small city on the Gulf Coast only to find that Harley has disappeared and left his half of the medical practice to her in his will. He quickly discovers that Southern hospitality is not always so hospitable - the other doctor in town, Brick Breeland, is less than happy to share the practice with this young stranger, and his daughter, Lemon, a beautiful south with soft decision based sour when she meets Zoe. Zoe's only allies are the mayor, former football star Lavon Hayes, her bad-boy neighbor Wade Kinsella, and handsome lawyer George Tucker - who just happens to be Lemon's boyfriend. Zoe is out of her element and ready to pack her bags, but a surprise visit from her mother in New York chic Zoe takes decision to stay in Bluebell for a while, the discovery of the life of a small town and beside herself I did not know was there.
Episode Summary:
Zoe is doing everything possible to stay away from Wade, but when Rose enlists her help to launch the first BlueBellapalooza, is forced to ask Wade to convince his former bandmate musical act at short notice. Wade convinces George to start playing the field and promises to be his wingman, but when you get up Wade, decided to follow the advice only apparently questionable. Meanwhile, Brick tries to trick lemon work for him, but she is determined to keep his job as a waitress, is that one of his clients end up needing medical attention.
